iPhone app!

Of course! Maybe now I'll do a real job of blogging. I use my phone for everything so I can't believe it took me this long to think about there being a blog app to utilize. And...a new trial period/rededication begins!

Florida Residency

(I wrote this Sept. 21, 2010)

This title has double meaning, of course: John is a UF Anesthesiology Resident, and we are all now residents of Florida! We have been for 3 months now, actually. Our move-in date was June 25, 2010. We had a LOT of help prior to the move and then on moving day the Parker's actually caravaned the trip with us and stayed a few days helping us unpack. That was wonderfully helpful; physically and mentally helping us transition.

Avy May

We have been blessed with a daughter! Ok, I know this post is 4 weeks overdue since she'll be 1 month old tomorrow, but at least she won't be 1 year, right? Now that we're moving farther away from family and friends (in 9 days! -June 25) we really are going to try to be diligent with online sharing/posting/virtual communication for anyone interested. :) I know we say that just about every post. "C'est la vie," for the Germeroths, anyway...

Avy May Germeroth was born at home (planned home birth with a midwife) on May 17, 2010 around 11:30 am. (I remember looking at our bedroom clock minutes after she was born and asking, "so what was her time of birth?" and it read 11:27 and my midwife responded, "11:37am." So we're rounding it to 11:30.) She weighed in at 9lbs even on Cynthia's scale, but we figured out later with our home digital scale compared to the pediatrician's scale that she was actually 8lbs, 12 oz. She was 20.5 inches long. (1 oz. bigger and 1/2 inch shorter than Joel was!) Joel has had a rough transition but considering all the changes, he's doing well. John was home with us for three weeks so Joel had a lot of Daddy time but now John's back to work and working long 14 hr days. And he's working every day until we move. I am home packing the apartment and so that's stressful enough for all of us. This morning Joel got upset that my shoes weren't in the closet. We talk to him about moving but we're not sure how much he understands. He gets excited about the moving truck but when I say we're not coming back he gets quiet and wants to end the conversation. Avy May seems to be just fine; she is a super sweet baby that doesn't cry much and sleeps a lot. All in all, this whole process (new baby, new home, new job) is certainly hard but refreshing in the fact that our Gracious Father doesn't give us more than we can handle. "2Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance." James 1:2-3. And now, I need to get back to work!

Just wanted to say "HI"

So we haven't posted anything in 2 years... and I have a lot of friends blogging that I thought maybe we should revive this. Or, attempt to revive it, at least. I always seem to try these internet things (Facebook, twitter, blogger, etc.) and do good for a few days, weeks, possibly months, but then fizzle out in "Offline" mode... for months and months. So I'm tired of seeing those dang maternity pants so I just had to type something today. And just for the record, I hate those maternity pants this go-round. They're too short for my long legs so I ripped out that belly band and sewed it onto a different pair that had an uncomfortable band but otherwise fit fine. Thank you, John dear, for my Singer sewing machine!

Life Since Sept. 29, 2007

To all of you who actually checked our blog in the last year and a half.... We're so sorry. We will try to do better. So here's the low down.

1.) I am set to graduate from medical school May 15, 2009
2.) I matched into a surgery intern year (1st year of residency) at MUSC here in Charleston
3.) I matched into anesthesiology residency at University of Florida in Gainesville
4.) Loren is pregnant again and due in mid-November

More detailed explanations to come. We will also be posting photographs and updates on our family life. Blessings to all.

Sincerely,
The Germeroths

World's Most Comfortable Maternity Jeans

Finally! Since Friday, (13 days until Joel's due date) I finally have a pair of pants I love! And Lord willing, we'll be having other children, so we don't mind having bought these for the last few days. Since I'm carrying so low, all of my other pants roll down and press on my bladder even more than Joel is doing from the inside. I loved them so much I wore them out of the store. Besides comfort, the great thing about the super belly band is that it's "nude" and people don't notice I'm pregnant... John says... no, that it doesn't show under my tops. It definitely shows that I'm pregnant... tonight the clerk at Wal-Mart asked if I "got twins in there?"
